Christmas is coming up and I’ve been looking for some little girl manga for my sister. I don’t read much manga, and what little I do read is aimed at boys. So I used the internet to try and find something that she might like. It quickly turned into a game of find the worst covers.

This is the cover to the lizard banana and/or gourd prince. There is no way that is a lizard.

The title of this must be “King of Chins and Queen of Big Hair”. I can’t even imagine the things their children will be called.

I think the plot line is that the girl has an elastic neck or no neck. May she’s an alien that makes making out uncomfortable for both parties as well.

Ignore the naked for a minute and look at the hand, now look at the rest of their bodies. It boggles the mind does it not?

There are a lot of alien ladies in these books. Wait, this is a HUMAN female? I seriously doubt that. Is there any way I can contest that?

Oh-Oh my. I really don’t know what to say. Your eyes are so huge. I’m not even curious as to what your gender is. Do your eyes eat lesser eyes and that’s why they’re so big? WHAT IS GOING ON?

It appears that Disney is going to buy another company that we all know and love: Marvel. To many people this seems like an odd combination. Disney tries to give the impression that they only produce family friendly sitcoms and animated movies, but fact of the matter is they just like owning everything related to entertainment. I find that most people don’t even know that Disney owns Miramax (you know, the company that produced Trainspotting, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, No Country for Old Men, etc). It’s pretty obvious that Disney allows it’s subsidiaries to do what they want, so long as they aren’t too heavily attached to the Disney image. Even so, the Pixar merger appears to have not been detrimental.

On the other hand this is Disney. I do not trust Disney one bit and I’d be surprised if they didn’t make some changes to marvel. I’m personally expecting them to have marvel launch more comics aimed at kids. Of course, kids are already reading comics, but I mean that there are going to be more “wholesome, family friendly” comics. This could be a good or a bad thing. I just hope that Disney is smart enough to keep their hands off of the already running series. No one wants to see Deadpool at a Jonas Brothers concert (unless he is wreaking havoc). Don’t fix it if it isn’t broken.

The Livestream session yesterday was a blast.

I’m going to be doing sketch sessions on a weekly basis now. They’re going to all going to be on Wednesdays at 9 PM Pacific and will last 90 minutes. And yes, I’m going to be doing them on UStream.
I’m switching back to ustream ’cause I don’t see the advantage of livestream, nor do I really understand how it works. I’m pretty sure that the quality problems are due to manycam, but I can’t afford any of the “good” programs. So I’m going to set up a donation/tip box so I can hopefully get a few kinds souls to help me get one of said programs (and maybe a decent enough webcam if time and generosity prevails).

I’m going to be going a live stream this afternoon. I’m not going to be coloring anything, I’m actually going to be doing sketch requests. I still suck it when it comes to digital sketching so don’t expect much. I’d prefer not to draw original characters cause they require references and stuff, but whatevs.

With summer at a close I’m starting to do some serious site maintenance. You may notice that the comics page and the illustration page have combined forces and have become the gallery. I’m debating getting a new layout too, but nothing is final.

In the mean time here is a boat load of sketches.

I’m getting sick of my pokemonathon drawings sitting around and collecting dust. So I’m selling them all. They’re all under $10 and if you buy multiples or evolutionary lines I’ll give you a discount.

Yes, I am being an art whore.

I really want to work on my both my inking and use of black spots. I’m offering both $5 commissions and art trades (go to my DA page to get on that) in the same style as the skulldog drawing I just did. Some of them may be full body, some of them may be detailed head shot. The same amount of time will be put into all of them.

Just gimmie some refs of your character, both on looks and personality and a “feeling” you want with it. That stuff helps so much.

This would have been my third year at Portland Zine Symposium, but I couldn’t go. And not even for the cool reason that I’m ad Comicon. No, I have finals and I am going to be moving soon. I am very displeased by this.

I’ve never been to comicon, but if you can go you should. I’ve heard some amazing stories and it’s COMICON! However, Portland Zine symposium is another awesome experience. If you’ve ever had any interest in the zine community I highly suggest that you go. There are lots of minicomics too. Cheap minicomics. Even if you aren’t interested in zines it’s free and there are plenty of people giving out free stuff. It’s right by the Saturday Market too.

I just made my first desktop recording.

Admittedly, this isn’t really how I work, I was just experimenting both with a different style and the recording program. But now that I know what I’m doing expect more recordings!
